The impetus behind the Foundation are the inadequacies in the school system and crime rates of the Western Cape, the latter of which is the highest in South Africa. The educational and cultural activities that are offered to the 2,000 students the Foundation works with daily provide healthy alternatives to the negative influences in their communities that may otherwise encourage youth crime.
