Violent Extremism in Finland – Situation Overview 2/2013

The second bi-annual report on violent extremism in Finland has been published as part of the Ministry of Interior’s National Action Plan for Preventing Extremism., This situation overview aims to provide an up-to-date assessment of violent extremist movements active in Finland, and of other ideologically based movements that could resort to violence. Such an assessmentis based on international experience, the nature of the political activity in question, or observations by the authorities. Another aim is to facilitate the identification and prevention of violent extremism in the everyday security activities of the authorities, organisations and individuals. For this reason, the overview includes brief descriptions of factors influencing the background of violent extremist activity.
