RAN Voices of Victims Working Group: Proposed Policy Recommendations

The European Commission-funded Radicalisation Awareness Network Voices of Victims of Terrorism (RAN VVT) highlights the concrete consequences of violent radicalisation on a human scale and uses this for prevention and deradicalisation. Victims of terrorism and their organisations can make a powerful contribution to the awareness of the danger and effects of radicalisation and terrorism. Victims can share their experience with a broader public, creating a story that people can relate to. The strategy of the RAN VVT is to:, The RAN VVT had its first meeting on 29-30 May 2012 in Paris. 40 representatives from victim organisations were present, including representatives from organisations based in third countries. A second meetup took place in the Hague on 7 November 2012. The following paper outlines some of the core policy recommendations of the Working Group.
