In this paper, Zsolt Gál looks at the 2010 Hungarian general elections and the way in which the extreme right used an anti-Roma agenda as its primary mobilization tool, resulting in an unprecedented success. Could the Slovak extreme right repeat it? The aim of the paper is to examine the chances for this. Considering the many similarities between the two countries (share of Roma population, its socio-economic situation, territorial distribution, differences between the Roma community and the majority) there is a good reason to believe in a similar outcome.
