Mothers Against Violence
Author(s):
Since August 1999, Mothers Against Violence (MAV) has supported the inner-city communities of Greater Manchester in the UK. MAV was founded following the murder of three young males in inner-Manchester over the course of just one week at the height of gun-related violence in the city. The mothers of the community “took a stand and came out fighting not with guns but with words”. Since this time MAV have supported the inner city communities of Greater Manchester by providing mentoring support, educational awareness of gun and knife crime, counselling, workshops, and outreach work which includes campaigning for positive change.
