South Los Angeles Homeless TAY and Foster Care Collaborative
Author(s):
Formed in January 2012 by local non-profit leaders from South Los Angeles, the impetus behind the organisation are the 4,400 plus homeless youths and young adults in the South L.A. area, the majority of which have been witness to the foster care system. This has been due to a range of circumstances encompassing poverty, violence, lack of family infrastructure, and barriers to education. Their aim is to respond to and develop a coordinated effort that will leverage community, public, and private resources to reduce and prevent youth homelessness.
