The Violence Prevention Network’s aim is to help young people who have committed serious hate crime offences to lead a non-violent life. They learn how to take responsibility for their actions and are enabled to distance themselves from inhuman ideology. This project works with individuals in prison convicted of violent crimes linked to far right extremism to rejecttheir past, move away from extremism, and forge new lives. It has also recently begun to work with individualswho are religiously radicalised. It has been running for over 10 years and is funded by the Federal Agency for Civil Education, which is part ofthe Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs, but the project is run on an entirely independent basis.
